  • G.V Scheme School Mural

View All Print Designs View All Projects G.V Scheme School Mural For our yearly project, our search for a plain wall, surprisingly ended at a neighbourhood school in the early days of April 2019. The school we chose was G.V Scheme BMC School. The total area of the wall was around 400 square feet. We spent a lot of time developing the concept for the wall after judging the area. We wanted the mural to be aesthetically pleasing, relatable and informative for the students studying there. Our inclination toward the natural environment, led us to choosing around 8 species from the city's forest - Sanjay Gandhi National Park, for their depiction on the wall. The criteria for selection of these species were - variation in form, lesser known species, vibrant colours - to make the mural attractive. We added basic scientific information of these animals next to their illustrations along with their Marathi names (the school's medium of instruction is Marathi). We painted these flora and fauna - Bamboo Pit Viper Snake, Red Silk Cotton Flower, Crimson Backed Sunbird, Hanuman Langur, Asian Paradise Flycatcher Bird, Painted Stork, Karvi Flower and Small Indian Civet. A 'community-painting weekend' was announced on our Facebook and Instagram pages to help us with the wall. We were overwhelmed by the responses. There were people from all age-groups and backgrounds. We also had constant encouragement and support of the school principal, Mr. Sable and his staff. Passer-bys who stopped and stared with smiles on our faces were the much-needed pat on our backs through the entire period. The last part of the mural turned out to be the toughest, writing the information using white paint on the rough wall surface. Vaijayanti Ajinkya and Nitya George from the AMVDS Team did a great job at this. The wall reached completion in the last week of May. The project took us around 14 days to complete, write from conceptualization to execution, using help from our volunteers. View All Print Designs View All Projects Verve 2020 Vidyalankar Institute of Technology is an engineering degree college based in Mumbai, India. It has been accredited by National assessment and accreditation with A+ grade in 2019. We were required to design the stage-backdrop for their annual festival VERVE. The director of the institute wanted us to celebrate artists and artistes in some manner - thereby encouraging the engineering students to also be open to creative pursuits. We conducted a workshop with the students to understand their perspective. We then shortlisted and illustrated 58 personalities from the field of Science, Performing Arts and Sports. Inspiring words spoken by them were used to motivate the viewer and balance the white space as vertical graphic-elements. Since we were printing on an unsustainable material - flex boards - we decided to split the entire decor into vertical rectangular panels. Each of these panels would have a few illustrations of these personalities and a motivational quote. Once the festival is over - these panels are to be put up in the hallway of the college as interior posters. Understanding the needs of our community, sharing with our fellow peers and community members, giving to the ones who truly cannot afford a bright Christmas was the objective. We were required to create a poster design that was to be put up in the school campus, intriguing students, and parents to come and enjoy the carnival. Identity Design View All Projects A visual identity (which consists of the logo, the colour palette, the typography and brand graphic elements) is one of the first visual pieces the audience recognises in a brand. A good identity design completely aligns with the values of the brand and sets the path for designing other visual media for it . An existing brand can also redesign its identity to function more effective. • Protected Area Update - Mastheads

View All Print Designs View All Projects Protected Area Update - Mastheads The Protected Area Update is a newsletter carrying news and information from Protected Areas in India and South Asia edited by Dr.Pankaj Sekhsaria and published by Kalpavriksh, Pune. We redesigned its mastheads. For the main masthead - We showed the topographic view of a forest. The trees are shown with triangles. Overall, the design looks like a pattern that organically displays 'areas'. For the masthead of IBA - We wanted something in consistency with the main masthead, so we recreated this pattern inspired by Rosy Starlings' flight. The Marathi masthead was designed creating the illustration of a Malabar Giant Squirrel. AMVDS Team: Ashvini Menon, Vaijayanti Ajinkya, Nitya George and Jui Karhadkar. He founded YouCAN (Youth Conservation Action Network) to improve eco-literacy in schools through documentation, storytelling workshops and leadership programmes. YouCAN required the identity to have a representation of nature in it. After a long process of iterations, for the final design, we combined the 'A' with the peak of a mountain, almost signifying the motivation of the movement itself.
